MORE ON JOSEPH
Joseph Thor grew up in the great armpit of America that is suburban New Jersey. He was raised on Bob Dylan and The Who, but when he saw his first Broadway show at the age of 12 he was hooked. What was that show you ask, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark…
Joseph (or JT as most know him) took to music quickly. Teaching himself guitar, piano, bass, and most other rock oriented instruments throughout middle school and high-school. From there JT branched out from just acting into music direction, arranging, and eventually writing musicals and pop songs. As time went on and JT’s love for music grew, he realized that his heart was rooted in performance, specifically Musical Theater performance.
JT enrolled in Musical Theater college and while there continued to hone his craft of both performance and writing. He also began posting regularly on tiktok about musical theater, music theory, and all things in between. JT left college having performed in a plethora of shows, having had 3 new works premiered, music directed the entire student theater season at his college, and having written an album about the entire experience called “Live From Oklahoma City”.
Now back in the greater NYC area, JT makes a name for himself via cabarets and pop up performances with his band as well as his aptly named production company that he runs with his friends called “Joseph Thor and Friends”. They have sold out 54 Below, Chelsea Table + Stage, and are continuing to work their way into mainstream success.
As corny as it sounds, JT looks to redefine the idea of being “multi hyphenated” as an artist. He tries to bring together all of his “hyphens” to make himself the best overall artist in whatever field he chooses to delve into.
